How it Works
Laughter yoga is based on the belief and recent science that shows ‘non spontaneous’ laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. The brain cannot differentiate between real and ‘non spontaneous’ laughter and the body still benefits from increased immunity & decreased stress levels.
Sessions are conducted in groups and often commence with gentle warm-up techniques.
These techniques include breathing exercises, stretching, clapping, eye contact and body movement, to help break down inhibitions and encourage a sense of playfulness.
This is followed by a series of ‘laughter exercises’ that combine acting, visualization techniques with playfulness.
In no time forced laughter turns into real and contagious laughter and it’s no wonder as who could resist –
